Change Your Mood; Simple Tips
We've all woke up on the wrong side of the bed. This blah feeling that has us wishing we could stay under the covers all day, even if it's the wrong side. Lucky for most of us we are in control of whether we want to keep this feeling or do something about it. Here are some of the things I do to get myself a little more perked up and ready for the day.
1. Play a song that gets you moving and grooving. Nothing gets me going like some 60's and 70's R&B and Soul music, particularly Bill Withers, Lovely Day. I can't help but shake my hips beneath my sheets and feel like this day is going to be a good day. Choose one good feeling song that pumps some happy chemicals through your brain and body. I've found a link of 73 Songs that make you feel like a badass. I have to say the picture of Taylor Swift with a red circle and a line through above the list had me giggle a little.

2. Force a smile. It's scientifically proven that fake smiling can release powerful chemicals that can make you feel happier and lower stress levels. It may sound a little cheesy but if it works it works right. Quite frankly it might feel a little silly but being silly is often a game-changer to lift your mood a little.
3. Send a message to someone to tell them you appreciate them. Often brightening somebody's day can brighten yours too. I like to message friends once in a while and just tell them how happy I am to know them and list off some admirable attributes about them. You'll most likely get a pleasant reply that will give you the feel-goods.
4. Get physical. Go for a walk, head to the gym, play a workout video from Youtube or dance. Being active is proven to boost your brainpower and lift your mood. As soon as I open my eyes I put on my sweats, grab my coffee, turn on a podcast and head for the door for a walk in the park before I can even think of any of the day's problems. It gets me feeling so pumped and positive. Sometimes the longer you stay in the bed, the heavier the day seems. If you don't have time in the morning to do it, even just planning for the afternoon or evening will make you feel better. If you've allocated a small portion of your day just to doing something for yourself, the thought of looking forward to something relaxing can trigger some enthusiasm and comfort.
A little note, if you consistently wake up feeling like you want to stay under the covers it could be a sign of something more.
